Lyla’s story began with heartbreak when she was cruelly abandoned from a truck in Texas, but thanks to a kind Samaritan, she was rescued and given a second chance. Despite her rough start, Lyla has remained incredibly sweet, loving, and trusting. She absolutely adores people and has the kind of gentle, affectionate personality that makes everyone fall in love with her almost instantly.

Lyla is happiest when she’s close to her humans. Whether she’s leaning in for pets, following you from room to room, resting her head in your lap, or curling up beside you on the couch, she simply loves being part of the family. She has a soft, loving nature and looks at her people with so much trust and devotion. Even after everything she’s been through, she greets the world with kindness, affection, and a wagging tail.

Like any young pup, Lyla is still working on a few basics, including potty training and remembering to keep all four paws on the ground when greeting her favorite humans. She just gets so excited to see people! The good news is that she’s a smart girl who learns quickly and improves every day with patience and consistency.

Lyla gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and loves playing with her foster fur siblings and carrying around her favorite toys. She has a lovely medium energy level — playful and curious when it’s time for fun, but also perfectly content spending quiet evenings snuggled up watching TV with her people.

New places and unfamiliar noises can make Lyla a little nervous at first, but she warms up quickly with reassurance and love. She is bravely learning that the world can be safe and full of good things, and watching her confidence grow is incredibly rewarding.

Currently around 35 pounds, Lyla is expected to grow into a medium-sized dog of about 50–60 pounds full grown. She’s looking for a patient, loving family who will continue helping her build confidence while showering her with the love she so happily gives in return.

Lyla has so much love in her heart and is more than ready to share it with a forever family of her very own.
