Gus

AGE: 6 Months

SEX: Male

BREED: Pitt Bull Mix

Gus is a short, sturdy little guy with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. Weighing in at about 48 pounds, this gentle boy is equal parts hilarious, affectionate, and adventure-ready. One of his signature moves? Grabbing a toy every single time he greets you, then doing the cutest little prance with it in his mouth like he’s showing off a prized possession.

Gus is a true lover — always seeking love, approval, and connection — and he gives it right back with plenty of kisses and cuddles. He also thinks it’s very important to play under the bed, even though he barely fits, which somehow makes it even funnier. And just when you least expect it, Gus will let out the funniest, cutest high-pitched bark — totally unexpected and guaranteed to make you laugh.

He’s incredible in the crate, great in the car, and knows how to use a doggy door, though he’ll still occasionally have accidents inside (usually because he’s busy being Gus). He also has a quirky habit of walking while he pees and poops, which is equal parts odd and hilarious.

Gus loves the snow, adores ice cubes, and is very food motivated, making training fun and rewarding. He loves to wrestle and play with other dogs, but would also be perfectly happy as a solo dog soaking up all the attention. He’s mid-to-high energy and an excellent adventure buddy, always up for hikes and outings, yet just as content being a couch potato afterward.

When Gus first arrived, he went through some rough medical issues, but that experience has made him incredibly calm and tolerant at the vet — truly a dream patient. He’s also great with kids and cats, making him a wonderful fit for many types of homes. And fair warning: Gus does enjoy stealing shoes, so adopters should be prepared to laugh and maybe keep footwear out of reach.

If you’re looking for a gentle, goofy, loyal companion who will explore with you by day and cuddle by night (with the occasional surprise squeaky bark), Gus might just be your perfect match. 💙🐾
