Meet Ms. Khloe

Khloe had come from a loving home, but her family was moving and could no longer keep her. Her sweet brown eyes immediately caught my attention. She was around the same size and looked so much like my own dog — a pit/lab mix — that I thought, “Fuck it… what’s one more dog to the gang?” I signed up to foster her with one simple goal: give this girl a safe, loving place to land while she waited for her forever family. What I didn’t know was just how much we would learn, grow, and overcome together. Khloe settled in almost immediately. She was calm, sweet, easily redirected, and absolutely loved people. She was playful with my dog, curious about my cat, and seemed to have enough love to give everyone she met. But let’s be honest… I am definitely her favorite. Not long after she arrived, I noticed that something wasn’t quite right with one of her legs. My foster-parent instincts kicked in, and thankfully, with the help of her amazing rescue and veterinarian, we discovered that Khloe had a torn CCL and would need surgery. That chapter brought out a whole new side of Ms. Khloe. I learned that this girl does not believe in sharing. She loves her toys so much that she will carefully hide them — along with your shoes, apparently — inside her crate and then guard her treasures like they are priceless artifacts. We also encountered some challenges with her relationships with other dogs. What started as some difficulty getting along with my older dog eventually became something we needed to work on with other dogs, too. It hasn't always been easy, but we kept showing up for her. We kept learning her. We kept working with her. And somewhere along the way, I realized something… I had been told Khloe was a pit/lab mix, but that just didn't quite feel right. This girl is BRILLIANT. She is incredibly agile, athletic, energetic, curious, and has a personality all her own. So last month, I finally did a DNA test. And guess what? Ms. Girl is NOT a Lab. And she's barely a Pit Bull. She is 59% DALMATIAN! Suddenly, so many things started to make sense. Her energy. Her intelligence. Her athleticism. Her quirks. Her need for stimulation. Understanding her breed makeup gave me a much better idea of how to support her, train her, and help her thrive. Then came another incredible chapter. After an incredible community effort in May 2026, we were finally able to raise enough money for Khloe's surgery. She had her CCL repaired and began the long road toward recovery. And today, August 29th, marks 12 weeks since her surgery. Her veterinarian has officially cleared her and says she is healthy and ready to get back to enjoying life! She'll still need to ease back into high-impact activity and shouldn't be sprinting around like she's training for the Olympics just yet , but she is healing beautifully and is ready for her next chapter. And now comes the hardest part for me. I'm moving out of state in October. Khloe has been with me long enough that she isn't just a foster dog anymore. She has become part of my heart, part of my home, and part of our little family. But I know she deserves something even bigger: Her forever home. So I'm putting this out there with a very full heart and a very big plea. Khloe would thrive with someone who can give her lots of love, affection, attention, structure, and patience. She would likely do best as the center of someone's world — soaking up all that love and attention for herself. I can picture her with a young couple or family who wants an incredibly loyal, affectionate, active companion. Someone who enjoys walks, adventures, playtime, and having a big goofy girl by their side. Or perhaps someone experienced with dogs who understands that relationships take time and is willing to patiently help Khloe learn how to build healthier, more comfortable relationships with other dogs. She has plenty of personality, and she will keep you laughing. She's a tall girly, which means counter surfing is absolutely one of her talents. So snacks definitely need to be kept out of reach! She is fully house trained and has never had an accident inside the house. She absolutely LOVES her crate, which has become her safe space. She will, however, absolutely destroy her stuffies. RIP to every stuffed animal that has ever crossed her path. She is incredibly affectionate, a BIG cuddler, and genuinely just wants to be close to her person. She is also VERY food motivated — and girl can EAT. Her leash manners are still a work in progress, but she's smart and catches on quickly. Sometimes her excitement about getting out of the house gets the best of her, but with consistency and patience, she continues to improve. Khloe isn't perfect. And honestly, I don't want to pretend that she is. She's a dog who has had some challenges, and she will need someone who is willing to understand her, continue working with her, and give her the structure she needs to succeed. But she is also so incredibly loving. She has overcome surgery, recovery, transitions, new environments, new people, and learning how to navigate relationships — and through all of it, she has remained this goofy, affectionate, intelligent, hilarious girl who just wants to be loved. I started this journey thinking I was simply going to foster a dog. Instead, Khloe became a part of my life. Now my biggest hope is that I can help her find the person who will look into those beautiful brown eyes and realize what I did that very first afternoon: This girl is something special.
