Get ready for fun and affection with Buffy! This spirited and highly intelligent pup is full of life, love, and a great desire to learn. She thrives on motivation and has been responding beautifully to her recent training, quickly picking up new tricks along the way.

Buffy is an active girl who absolutely adores playing fetch, going on quiet "sniffaris," and taking walks. Her absolute favorite new activity is pulling her handler on a scooter using a jogging leash—just like dogsledding! It gives her a great way to stretch her legs and freely explore. When the weather gets cold, she is perfectly happy playing fetch around the house and running up and down the stairs to stay active.

Thanks to dedicated training, Buffy has made incredible progress, in her fear based reactivity. Lunging and barking are very rare now, and she is highly confident in public spaces like Scheels, Home Depot, and outdoor shopping centers. She even lets store employees give her a quick brush and a treat!

While she is super smart and eager to please, Buffy prefers quieter environments. She is not a fan of large crowds or big groups of dogs, usually preferring an empty park or playing with just one or two close dog friends, but does not like all dogs. She likes her personal space when meeting new strangers, but a few tasty treats will quickly win her over.

Buffy’s ideal family will respect her need for slow introductions—let her approach on her own terms and avoid leaning over, reaching out, or forcing contact. It’s important to learn her body language and watch for early signs of discomfort, such as freezing, or turning away, and to give her space immediately if you notice these signals. Buffy has benefitted from muzzle training for safety and to help her feel more comfortable during stressful or training situations.

Confidence-building and impulse control exercises (like “place,” “look,” or “wait”) help her feel more secure and focused. Buffy responds best to positive reinforcement only—treats, praise, and patience—never punishment. Gradual, controlled exposure to her triggers such as other dogs or strangers, preferably with the guidance of a trainer experienced with fear-based behaviors, will support her continued progress. Safe management, including maintaining distance from triggers and closely supervising new interactions, will ensure Buffy settles in successfully.

When playtime is over, Buffy transforms into a loyal shadow and an absolute cuddle bug who loves to snuggle close all night long. However, her future family should know that she requires patience when transitioning to a new environment. Buffy takes time to adjust to a new home and may initially shut down. She will need love, a safe space of her own, and time to decompress—sometimes from a distance—while she learns to trust her new surroundings.

If you want a playful, smart, and deeply affectionate companion to share outdoor adventures and quiet evenings with, Buffy might be your perfect match!
