This handsome guy is Jedidiah—Jed, Jeddy, or “handsome bo-bandsome,” as his foster mom lovingly calls him. Jed is a VERY sweet, intelligent pup who’s almost 2 years old, though he’s still very much a puppy at heart trapped in a big-kid body. After spending many months in the shelter, he’s re-learning what it’s like to live in a home and interact with other dogs. He’s doing great with potty training and is completely crate trained, but he’s still working on jumping, leaving shoes and household items alone, and polishing his basic home manners. The good news? Jed is incredibly receptive to correction and redirection, which makes him wonderfully trainable and eager to fit into your routine.

We also believe Jed has some cattle dog in him, as he shows light herding and nipping tendencies—nothing excessive, but definitely behaviors that will benefit from consistent guidance. He can also be hesitant around men at first, needing someone patient, gentle, and understanding to show him that not all men are scary. Once he feels safe, he’s all love.

Because of his size, enthusiasm, and “big puppy energy,” we recommend a home with older or larger kids who are used to playful dogs while he continues learning better impulse control. Despite his puppyish antics, Jed LOVES people and has a huge, affectionate heart.

Jed would thrive with a submissive female dog who enjoys playtime and doesn’t mind taking the “leader” role, as he’s full of energy and eager for fun. He’s also fond of the cat in his foster home, though he doesn’t quite realize how big he is yet—so a confident cat who’s comfortable setting boundaries would be best.

All in all, Jedidiah is a true good boy through and through. With a family ready to offer patience, structure, and a little extra TLC, he’ll give you a lifetime of love, loyalty, and delightfully goofy moments.
